The prettiest jump doesn’t always win. You can spend your days perfecting every single movement in your vault but if you can’t run full speed into the wind with a Championship on the line, do any of those “perfect” vaults from practice matter? I sure as heck have lost more than I’ve won, but I’ve always played to win.
For those athletes who are struggling to understand why they can’t have a season this year, I get it. 2006 I qualified for State, 2007 I placed 8th, 2008 I won State, 2009 I had an accident resulting in surgery. No Senior HS season, no Freshman College season. I stayed confident, worked my tail off, and ended up winning two D3 titles in college. Don’t ever doubt yourself. Be patient and don’t let up. It’ll pay off.
Trip down memory lane. Dusted off some old hard drives and found this 4.90M jump from 3L with a skip. I remember the jump like it was yesterday. Long day of teaching, 1hr+ drive, couple efficient jumps, head back home for dinner and repeat. Some people wouldn’t understand the efforts put into jumping after college with a full-time job. Some people understand those efforts entirely. Either way, the jump felt good and I miss these days. #gohard #getit #onemorejump #vaultermagazine #jumpersworld #polevaulting #polevault #winderup #trackandfield
